Last Sunday, my brother and I decided to grab a beer and a few bites at Brotzeit. What caught our attention was its welcoming and cosy décor as well as its delicious looking food posted all over its menu. Did it taste as good as it looks?

Brotzeit 1

We visited the branch at Sunway Pyramid that is situated at the main entrance directly opposite Starbucks. We were greeted by very friendly servers and seated outdoor on high stools. I have to say, my brother and I were impressed by the servers who were really attentive and knowledgable. What great service! We ordered a few different kinds of beers as well as pork ribs and pork knuckle.

If you are a beer lover, you must order the beer/bier which comes in different flavors, different colors as well as different sizes (from 0.3 L right up to 3 L). The beer served at Brotzeit is brewed according to the German purity law of 1516: 100% natural, made with pure spring water and imported from Germany. I had the Original Munchner and kind of like it. Definitely not my favorite German beer but it will do. The beer has a clear yellow color and a light amount of visible carbonation. It smells malty and well, tastes malty too. The beer felt medium-bodied on the palate and was definitely easy to drink.

Bavarian Style Pork Ribs, RM 55 ++ for half rack, RM 88 ++ for full rack

The pork rib was nothing short of juicy and tasty. We had the half rack Honey Pork Ribs that came with fries and salad. This dish also came in the original glazed flavor. I was really pleased with this dish. It was tasty on its own even without the special sauce that came with it. Staying true to its description, it was indeed roasted to perfection. This was definitely the highlight for me.

Crispy Pork Knuckle” served with sauerkraut and potato salad (RM85++)”

The pork knuckle was crispy and golden brown on the outside but so tender and juicy on the inside for the most part. The knuckle gravy went well with the meat. But the part that really sent me to heaven and back to earth was the awesomely crispy skin! The skin was fluffy and crunchy at the same time. It was not salty and was simply addictive! I had a hard time restraining myself from the crispy pork skin for fear of my waistline expanding and cholesterol levels elevating. The sauerkraut and the potato salad was the perfect synchrony for this crispy pork knuckle.

Overall, I enjoyed my dining experience at Brotzeit and look forward to my next porky escapade. If you’re thinking of where to bring your beloved mom for Mother’s Day, you can check out the promotions that they are having in conjunction with Mother’s Day this coming Sunday 12th of May.
