Hello! Hope everyone had a really beautiful Saturday! I started mine off by getting ready to attend the Henry Butcher Art Exhibition in MAP, KL. I’ve been looking forward to this event for weeks now as the exhibition last year really rocked.
But first, a stop at The Bee for brunch. Here are a few moments caught on camera:
The Bee has a wonderfully warm atmosphere. Perfect for long conversations over coffee. I hear they have performances now and then – need to catch that. Have you been?
And here’s the good food we ate. Yes, I know.. Tiramisu for brunch. But hey, it’s Saturday. Why not go all out?
And when the sun was still (partly) in hiding, we went outside and enjoyed the cool morning breeze. With coffee, of course.
After many hours, we finally made our way to the real reason why we were at Publika. The art!
On the left, a painting which evokes a sense of calm and peace – by Nguyen Thanh Binh.
On the right, a lady lazing in bed. There’s something quite provocative and sensual about this image – by Anurendra Jegadeva.
Metal on stone by Mat Ali Lat Som. What a warrior. Look at the details – the veins and tendons.
Peter Liew, a Malaysian master. This is of the streets of Malacca. Gorgeous.
The art exhibition was everything I expected it to be. There were paintings by up-and-coming artists as well as those by established artists. A mix of joyful art and art which forced you to contemplate. If you’re interested, come down and join us at the art auction which will take place next Sunday. All these paintings, and many more, are for sale.
I enjoyed my Saturday immensely. Tomorrow is bound to be another exciting day. I’m meeting with my two amazing friends – Michelle and Su Yi – the other genius minds behind this blog. We’re planning to have salted brownies (recipe coming soon) and yes, you guessed it, coffee.
Enjoy what’s remaining of your Saturday and have a great Sunday, too!
P.S. I know this has nothing to do with anything, but I got blue nails! And they make me happy. Had to share : )
